چکیده

The effect of NAb’s and glycosylation/PEGylation for the pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics of IFN-beta have been reviewed with more recent developments. The issue of both NAb’s and glycoslation with current pharmacokinetics in particular, and the issues with current models of NAb’s highlighted. This case study shows how the latest research particularly PEGylation can significantly improve the drug, how future developments could improve the current models of NAb’s, and what approaches have already been taken recently.

Neutralizing antibodies against interferon-Beta.

The development of neutralizing antibodies (NAbs) is a major problem in multiple sclerosis (MS) patients treated with interferon-beta (IFN-ß). Whereas binding antibodies (BAbs) can be demonstrated in the vast majority of patients, only a smaller proportion of patients develop NAbs. The principle in NAb in vitro assays is the utilization of cultured cell lines that are responsive to IFN-ß. The c...

Antibodies to Interferon beta in Patients with Multiple Sclerosis Receiving CinnoVex, Rebif, and Betaferon

Treatment with interferon beta (IFN-β) induces the production of binding antibodies (BAbs) and neutralizing antibodies (NAbs) in patients with multiple sclerosis (MS). NAbs against IFN-β are associated with a loss of IFN-β bioactivity and decreased clinical efficacy of the drug. The objective of this study was to evaluate the incidence and the prevalence of binding antibodies (BAbs) and neutral...

The Effect of Interferon Beta in HLA-G Expression on Monocyte in Diabetes Type1

Abstract Background and objectives: Dendritic Cells are the most important of antigen presenting cells with an effective role in immune tolerance. This study, aims to clarify the role of IFN- β in induction on dendritic cells derived by monocyte in diabetes type1 to evaluate the T cells response to beta cell specific antigenic molecule. Material and Methods: In this research, peripheral bl...

Guidelines on use of anti-IFN-B antibody measurements in multiple sclerosis: report of an EFNS Task Force on IFN-B antibodies in multiple sclerosis.

Therapy-induced binding and neutralizing antibodies is a major problem in interferon (IFN)-beta treatment of multiple sclerosis. The objective of this study was to provide guidelines outlining the methods and clinical use of the measurements of binding and neutralizing antibodies. Systematic search of the Medline database for available publications on binding and neutralizing antibodies was und...

A novel assay to detect low-titred antibodies to interferon beta in multiple sclerosis patients.

Neutralizing antibodies (NAbs) may compromise interferon (IFN) clinical efficacy in patients with multiple sclerosis (MS) receiving IFN-beta treatment. When bioassays are used for anti-IFN-beta antibody detection, they are unable to discriminate between NAbs or other interfering substances with anti-IFN activity. Here we report the development of an anti-IFN-beta Western blot method that facili...
